Soundset Festival - Minneapolis, MN

I was in Minneapolis this weekend. Was a good way to spend my birthday! My mom and Brandon flew out with me, which made the whole trip that much better. Soundset is such a rad festival, super honored to have been apart of that.  I love playing my music (new and old) for different audiences in different cities :)

Southern Comfort

Did a few shows in the South this past week. Started in Atlanta, ended up in Raleigh, and sandwiched Asheville in between.

Atlanta, Georgia

Landed in Atlanta where David (Hubbble) picked me up and we headed straight to the venue on the East side. The only other time I've been in Atlanta, I hung out downtown and performed at Tomorrow World festival which was in the woods. East Atlanta had more a small town vibe to it, which I really liked. There were a lot of bars and restaurants on the stretch of the tree lined street we were on. All the locals where telling us how shocked they were that it was so cold (it was freezing), apparently it was super warm the week before. The trees were a little shocked too, some had full spring time blooms, while the others didn't have a single leaf on them. The venue in Atlanta (529 EAV) reminded me a lot of Low End Theory, so I felt very much at home!

Asheville, North Carolina

We arrived in Asheville on St. Patty's Day. I felt like it was the appropriate town to be in for such a holiday. Asheville, home of Moog, was our first stop in NC. We took a tour of the factory, and by the end, I was ready to take every single one home with me. We watched as teams dedicated to different parts of the building process worked away. Incredible how they're made by hand. They're like the Lambos of the synth world! We stopped and grabbed some Indian for dinner, then got a few drinks at a Tiki Bar before soundcheck. One of my favorite parts of this trip was definitely St. Patty's Day, in a Tiki Bar, listening to death metal.

Durham, North Carolina

Durham had a true vintage Americana feel to it. We walked through the town and ran into friends of David on almost every block. I saw a lot of old car garages/gas stations turned restaurant, brewery, music venue, coffee shop, etc.

Cabo

It's been a little over a week since I've gotten back from Cabo, and I'm still very much in vacation mode. Mexico is a place I've gone to almost every Summer growing up, I've been fortunate to keep that tradition alive as I've gotten older. I find myself in Baja quite a bit, and when I'm not there, I find myself planning trips to go back.

I met up with my family a day after a tropical storm rolled through, and arrived for the perfect weather... a little humid, but moisture does wonders for my hair so I didn't mind.

Cabo is a romantic little port town. Theres a relaxed tropical vibe that contrasts with the neon lit party scene. I stuck with the former vibe.

We woke up every morning over looking the infinity pool, and the cabana lined beach was just a few steps away. It was nice to be on vacation and not do anything. I can't count the number of margaritas I drank on the beach, off the beach, on a boat, on a rooftop etc. etc.

The first time I ever drank Sol beer was my first time in Cabo back in 2009, so naturally I had to find an 8-pack (they do 8 instead of 6-packs) and drink a couple on a little secluded beach adjacent to Playa Del Amor. We took a water taxi to go to the beaches uncrowded by foot traffic. We were right by the Arch, so it made for good snorkeling. There were a plethora of colorful fish, I even saw a puffer fish which was really cool and totally caught me off guard!

One of my favorite places we ate at was Flora Farms - this farm down a little dirt road, they grow and cook everything there at the spot. Apparently they don't advertise, and all of there traffic is from word of mouth. It was pretty crowded, and super fresh. We stayed pretty much all day, got a tour of the farm, had a few drinks, too much wine, and too much good food

Our hotel had plants on every corner, I thought I had a lot of plants in my apartment, but its nothing compared to all the plants here.. definitely gave me plant envy, ha!

The sunsets might have been one of my favorite parts about this trip. That and getting to spend time with my family. We get so caught up in every day life, time really just slips through our fingers. Being able to take sometime out of our routine and just hang out really is my kind of perfect vacation.

Monday, Monday

Yesterday was a pretty packed day.. Sat in a lot of traffic, but it was well worth it. Started off in Calabasas for a live streamed interview with the CEO of Taxi, then to Hollywood to do a set on SubFM radio, and then finally headed over to the Ace downtown for our monthly. Here are a few pieces from my day!

Springtime in New York

With Summer approaching I'm already missing Spring.

I was finally able to perform in New York, something I've been wanting to do or a while. I opened up for Mika, which was pretty cool since I was a fan of his in high school.

Although it was my first time performing, it wasn't my first time in New York. This time was different though, I was finally able to sightsee and be a tourist! Here's some photos from my trip!
